How Sparks Arrests Become Bookings
Sparks sits second in size among Washoe County cities. The 2020 Census counted 108,445 people. Its police department, SPD, keeps incident and arrest paperwork of its own. Jail is a different story. Sometimes an adult arrested by SPD needs to be held. The person goes to the Washoe County Detention Facility. From that point, WCSO owns the booking record and the live custody status.
The split is worth knowing. SPD can tell you what officers reported on the street. WCSO can tell you whether the person is still in a county cell today. The public WCSO search refreshes every 15 minutes, yet it is not a full list. It no longer shows booking photos or other personal identifiers either. A blank result can mean intake is not finished. The person may have been released or transferred. The name may have been entered differently, or another custody system holds them.
Where Sparks Recent Arrests Appear
The city does offer public sources, but none works as a same-day booking roster. Sparks publishes yearly arrest documents, recent calls data, and occasional police news. For a current, person-level custody question, go to WCSO first.
| Channel | Photos? | Status | What it shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| WCSO Inmate Search | No public mugshot | Official county | Current adult jail custody |
| SPD home and news | Varies | Official city | Selected releases and updates |
| SPD arrest data | No person feed | Official city | Annual statistics |
| Recent calls | No booking feed | Official city | Calls-for-service activity |
| KOLO Crime | Sometimes | Editorial | Selected stories and recaps |
| News 4 & Fox 11 | Sometimes | Editorial | Selected local stories |
Annual totals cover a full year of SPD enforcement. Calls data only shows what police were sent to handle. Neither one names who sits in jail at this hour. News releases and media stories pick and choose. So they are not a roster.
Looking Up Someone Arrested in Sparks
A sound search follows the chain from custody to incident report to court file. Note the time of each check, since a person's status can shift fast.
- Open the WCSO roster and enter at least the first three letters of the person's last name.
- Allow for transport, intake, and data-entry lag after a very recent Sparks arrest.
- Call the Washoe County detention line at 775-328-3062 if current custody needs direct confirmation.
- Use SPD records for the police report and WCSO records for the detention record.
- Check the relevant court docket for later filings, bail decisions, and disposition.
That 15-minute notice is a refresh rate. It does not promise every arrest shows up within a quarter hour of contact. Arrest time, transport, jail intake, and publication are separate steps. Someone may even be released before you look.
The wider Washoe County recent-arrests hub covers the current roster. It also explains the official way to request photos. Its present web policy governs, not old screenshots or images copied from third-party sites.
Sparks Police Arrest Records
For SPD incident and arrest reports, SPD is the custodian to ask. The department treats most records as public. Some can be withheld. Those include active investigations, unadjudicated matters, and juvenile criminal information. Electronic copies are free, and mail copies run $0.05 per page plus actual postage. The public-record page cites NRS 239.0107. That statute sets a response or estimated completion date within five business days.
- Gather the name, date, incident location, and case number if available.
- Use the SPD public-record request page and its current form.
- Describe the exact report, attachment, or photograph sought instead of asking for every record.
- Choose electronic delivery when suitable, or account for copy and actual postage costs by mail.
- Read any redaction or denial explanation and use the court for a final case result.

An older court listing shows 775-353-2428 as a main number, but the current SPD site should govern. Send a city arrest-photo request to SPD unless the city points you to WCSO as the actual holder. The official Sparks public-record page displays the current request framework.

Note: The official page shows the request process, not any arrested person's photograph.
Calls for Service Are Not Arrests
SPD's recent-calls page points to a Power BI display. A call is just dispatched or reported activity. It proves no crime and no arrest. Several calls may trace back to one incident, and plenty end with nobody taken into custody. A call location also never identifies a booked person.
The annual arrest-data page has another job entirely. It serves up year-based statistical documents, 2024 and earlier included, not a live list of names. Those reports help with trends. They cannot say whether a certain person was arrested today or remains in custody. The SPD annual arrest-data source appears below to draw that line clearly.

Note: This is a statistical resource, not a same-day arrest roster, booking-photo list, or custody confirmation tool.
Sparks Booking Times and Weekend Reports
Three clocks matter in Washoe County. They are the time of arrest or charge, the jail intake time, and the public roster refresh. A historical media recap adds a fourth, publication time. A fresh SPD arrest may lag. Transport and intake must wrap up first, even with the roster refreshing on schedule.
Weekends bring another wrinkle. KOLO's "24-hour plus" stories have grouped April 10 through 13 and April 17 through 20, 2025. Those examples show a multi-day editorial recap pattern. They do not prove SPD or WCSO keeps its own weekly public blotter. A Friday or holiday arrest deserves checks across current custody, the next recap, agency records, and court data.
Note: A grouped story may bundle several arrest dates and selected rows, so its headline date is not each person's booking date.
After a Sparks Arrest
A booked person can pass through several systems. The WCSO roster reflects only current adult county custody. Release can drop someone from that live view while the SPD report lives on. A later state-prison sentence shifts the custody search to the Nevada Department of Corrections. Federal and immigration custody each run through separate authorities.
| Record state | Best source | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| SPD incident or arrest | SPD Records | Current jail custody or guilt |
| Current county booking | WCSO roster or detention line | Final disposition |
| Released county case | Agency record and court | That old media details remain current |
| State-prison custody | NDOC offender search | Present county-jail custody |
An ICE hold is its own custody event. It says nothing about how the underlying Sparks charges end up. Check the county booking record, immigration status, and the court case each with its own source.
Sparks Arrest News and Photo Limits
KOLO and News 4 & Fox 11 both report on Sparks and the wider Washoe area. Their arrest stories tend to be event-driven. A piece may rely on an agency image, a video still, or another news visual. A booking photo may never appear. The Reno Gazette Journal also tracks regional police and courts. It keeps no free arrest-only photo index. Older articles may sit behind archive limits.
A few unofficial Washoe aggregators fold Sparks into their city coverage, though some county pages carry stale or uneven material too. Treat these as secondary cross-checks at best. For who was arrested in Sparks, the SPD and WCSO sources should always come first.
Dates matter when you read a story. Search results can push an old Sparks arrest next to a fresh query. Names repeat across the region. An agency case number or court number links records far better than a photograph does. A correction filed later should be read alongside the original report.
Note: No photo gallery is hosted on this page, and corrections should start with the agency record and the court case.
